Training
Q. What areas do you cover for in person training?
In person training is available for puppy and dog guardians in Folkestone and the surrounding areas, including Sandgate, Hythe, Hawkinge, Capel and Dover.
Q. What if I want help with training but don’t live in these areas?
Don’t worry, we offer online coaching! This means we can work together anywhere in the world. You can learn more about our online coaching service here and book in your free 15 minute discovery call about how I can help you through online coaching here.
Q. Do you have availability for training?
Laura has a waiting list of a few months for in person training. However she has availability much sooner for online dog training.
Q. What training methods do you use?
At Doherty Dog Services, we use positive reinforcement, reward based training methods based on the most up to date . This means we set up puppies and dogs to succeed at every possible opportunity. We use food, toys, verbal praise for rewarding positive behaviour. It is our goal for all our training clients to leave us with a happier and calmer dog and for each dog to meet their individual potential.
Q. What qualifications do you have?
- BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Canterbury Christ Church University, majoring in Animal Cognition and Behaviour
- Absolute Dogs Training Academy
- Canine Principles Ofqual Level 5 in Canine Care & Behaviour Award
- Canine First Aid Certificate
Walks
Q. Do you have availability for walks?
Yes! Our dog walker Josie has availability for walks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Contact us to discuss your requirements and book your free meet and greet.
Q. Can my dog be walked off lead whilst out with Doherty Dog Services?
A. If you are happy for your dog to be walked off lead with us and we are in a suitable environment, yes! We do a combination of on and off lead adventures to keep things varied for all dogs and ensure that all dogs in our care get the appropriate level of exercise for them. We of course follow all council guidelines on where dogs are allowed to be let off lead. Additionally, we spend time building a relationship and recall skills with every dog we walk.
Q. Can you pick my dog up and drop them off?
A. Yes, your dog can be collected and dropped off from your home or workplace anywhere in Folkestone and the surrounding areas. You can provide us with a key so we can collect your dog if you are not home, we are all insured key holders.
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes, We have insurance with Pet Business Insurance for all services we offer and we are insured key holders.
Q. Do you have first aid training?
Yes, Laura, Dan and Josie have all completed Canine First Aid Training up to Level 3 as of March 2023.
